Angel City Press is proud to announce that two ACP titles were honored by Foreword Reviews' Book of the Year Awards this past weekend.

William Deverell and Darryl Holter won the Gold Medal in the Performing Arts and Music category for their book Woody Guthrie L.A. 1937 to 1941. In the Regional category, authors Judith Gerber and Rachel Surls earned the Gold Medal for their history of farming in Los Angeles in the book titled From Cows to Concrete.

The announcement was made during the American Library Association’s Annual Conference in Chicago on June 24. The awards recognize the best books published in 2016 from independent and university presses. Over 2,000 entries were submitted in 66 categories, with Foreword’s editors choosing the finalists, and a panel of over 150 librarians and booksellers acting as judges to pick the winners.
